DESCRIPTION: In this brand-new month-long online clas s\, New York Times best-selling author Angela Knight discusses the importa nce of creating the perfect cast for the kind of romance you’re trying to write.

\n

A memorable romance cast is more than the sum of its parts. To create an effective book\, all the characters – protagonists\, antagon ists\, and minor characters – must work together as a unit. And each must fit the kind of book you’re trying to write. Leatherface of the Texas Chai nsaw Massacre does not belong in a Rom Com. Nor do you want minor characte rs to steal the book.

\n

But how do you create a good cast for this p articular book and the audience you’re aiming for?

\n

Angela discusse s how to design your heroic couple for each other\, along with the minor c haracters and sidekicks who help make the protagonists three-dimensional.< br />\nShe’ll also talk antagonists and their henchmen\, and how to use th em to create tension and excitement.

\n

Next\, she’ll explore dialogu e\, humor and arguments as a way to develop character and conflict.

\n< p>The result will be a firm foundation for your book so you won’t be flail ing in the dark\, trying to figure out why the heck your book isn’t workin g.

\n

Lessons in this month-long online class will be posted on Monda ys\, Wednesdays\, and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays\, students may em ail scenes to Angela for her private critique and suggestions.

\n

INSTRUCTOR: Angela Knight is the New York Times bestselling author mor e than fifty novels\, novellas and eBooks.

\n

Angela’s first book was written in pencil and illustrated in crayon\; she was nine years old at t he time. A few years later\, she read The Wolf and the Dove and fell in lo ve with romance. In 1996\, she discovered the small press publisher Red Sa ge\, and realized her dream of romance publication in the company’s Secret s 2 anthology. She went on to publish several more novellas in Secrets bef ore going on to write for the Berkley Imprint of Penguin Random House. She was the recipient of a Career Achievement award in Paranormal Romance fro m Romantic Times Bookclub Magazine

\n

She’s now an editor\, writer an d cover artist for Changeling Press\, and teaches online writing classes.< /p>\n

Angela lives in South Carolina with her husband\, Michael\, a dete ctive with the Spartanburg City Police Department. The couple has a grown son\, Anthony.

\n

\n

Workshop Descr iption

\n

Writers and fans of romance fiction are the first to declare that romance is a feminist genre. And it’s absolutely true. Gen re romance is largely written\, edited\, published\, and consumed by women \, which means that women power a multi-billion dollar industry. Moreover\ , romance novels offer stories centered on women who\, despite conflict an d adversity\, actually achieve their dreams. But if there’s one thing a ro mance heroine never does\, it’s rest on her laurels. How can writers of ro mance today ensure that the industry we comprise and the fiction we write reflects our cherished ideals of gender equality while holding onto the th ings we’ve long loved most about romance novels? Bring an open mind and yo ur WIP for a fun\, interactive workshop about the sometimes conflictual\, frequently steamy\, and ever-hopeful relationship between feminism and rom ance fiction.

That day has come\, and Lexi is delighted! She married a scientist \, who is an alpha male pirate at heart. They’ve got two kids and a puggle -dog who run all over the place and destroy the house on a daily basis. Li fe is crazy\, but it’s the best life Lexi could imagine.

\n

She spend s her days snuggling babies\, thinking about stories\, writing her butt of f\, reading anything she can get her hands on\, and thinking about pirates .
