June 2019 Meeting

June 8, 2019 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
ECPI University
4101 Doie Cope Rd
Raleigh, NC 27613
VP Programming

Matt Gilmore is a Raleigh, N.C. native and 20-year veteran EMT with Durham County Emergency Medical Services. His daily routine ranges from the potentially catastrophic (like the recent Main Street gas explosion which made national news) to the absurd (people put foreign objects in the strangest places!), with everything in between, including gang-violence, domestic disputes, and automobile accidents.

His program on June 8, entitled “What Hollywood Gets Wrong” will cover all the ways writers, film makers, and television shows get the world of the EMT and the real-life dramas they deal with all wrong. He’ll dispose of common myths of the profession, get into the blood and guts of auto-accidents and gun-shot wounds, and discuss standard procedure on the scene versus what television has made you think happens when EMS shows up.

There will be an open-ended Q&A afterwards, so bring your questions!
