TOPIC:  CSI for Writers

Presenter: JD Allen

This is an overview course where the participants will see how investigative techniques work in real life. A murder (rumor has it The Brit is the victim) will take place and the class will solve the case using fingerprinting, trace evidence, and blood spatter analysis.

We’ll also cover the top ten things Hollywood gets wrong and how you can avoid the “Yeah, right’ reaction from your readers.

BIO: JD Allen’s SIN CITY INVESTIGATIONS series from Midnight Ink launch in 2018. She was a Mystery Writers of America Freddie Award-winner. She has a short story, in the ANTHONY AWARD WINNING anthology, Murder under the Oaks as well as Carolina Crimes. She’s the chair of the Bouchercon National Board, a member of MWA, PI Writer’s of America, and president her local Sisters in Crime chapter. She’s an Ohio State Univ. Alum with a degree in forensic anthropology with a creative writing minor. Some of you may remember her as Mari Freeman. I published 11 books/novellas with Ellora’s Cave prior to deciding to write mysteries.
